COMMUNITY CONTACTS

Members

Our MIA members include a diverse network of retailers, distributors, and manufacturers who are passionate about bringing music to life. From boutique makers to global brands, they work together to ensure musicians have access to quality instruments, expertise, and support.

What is the MIA all about?

WHO WE ARE

We are the membership organisation representing UK companies that make, distribute, and sell musical instruments. Our Executive Team of 3 works alongside a Board of 15 industry leaders, bringing expertise, insight, and passion to support and champion the music industry.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe in inspiring and empowering music creators and learners for life, nurturing creativity and innovation, embracing diversity and inclusion, and using the power of music to make a lasting, positive impact on our communities, industry, and the world.

WHAT WE DO

We amplify the voice of UK musical instrument businesses, bring the industry together, and equip our members with knowledge, insight, and support, enabling them to thrive, collaborate, and strengthen a vibrant, connected, and resilient musical instrument community across the UK.

But why should I join the MIA?

Here's what our members say

“We recently advertised for a new Warehouse & Sales Administration Assistant through the MIA’s channels, making use of their extensive network of music industry professionals. Our successful candidate discovered the role via the MIA’s promotion. Although we received 113 CVs from a range of sources, the applicant who came to us through the MIA was our top choice. Thank you to the team for their support in helping us find such a strong candidate.”

Ian Young

Managing Director | Sound Service UK Limited

“After 30 years in the music industry I learned that business is built on relationships. Joining the MIA early on strengthened those connections and eased the isolation of running a business. Within the Association, there’s always someone who understands the challenges we face. In today’s rapidly changing industry, that unity is more valuable than ever.”

Alun Hughes

Director | British Band Instrument Company

Being part of the MIA connects me with an incredible community of retailers and manufacturers, perhaps all with different goals, but all willing to give back to our industry.  The collaboration opportunities, possibility of learning from each other and support such as legal advice have been invaluable. I’d highly recommend more people in our industry seek out the full benefits of the MIA.”

Iain Wilson

Managing Director | IBC Trading

“Being part of the MIA keeps us connected to the people and issues that matter. We hear what’s changing across the industry, compare notes with peers, and get clear pointers when questions arise – especially around legal or compliance topics. The updates and briefings help us read the market and the wider retail environment, so we can make steadier decisions day to day.”

Jonny Brading

Sales Director | Presto Music

“At D’Addario, we value our membership in the Music Industries Association because it allows us to connect and collaborate with other leaders across all areas of the industry, from retail and distribution to manufacturing and beyond. By working together and speaking with one unified voice, we can help protect, promote, and sustain the music products sector across the UK.”

Tom Bacon

General Manager, UK | D’Addario & Company, Inc.

“When we have something to say about the things that effect our business, a strong association voice is always louder than a lone one. This is why the MIA gets our support.”
